My son, Jekkyl and Hyde

Yesterday was one of those rough days off where I wished I could be working instead, just because I get so exhausted from arguing with my son and feeling guilty for being so angry with him.

He has been a bit more rambunctious for any unknown to me reason the last few weeks. Sitting still has been harder for him and listening has been nonexistent, not to mention the MOUTH! I find myself asking him who the hell he thinks he is to talk to me the way he does. Says no and screams and yells and cries just because I tell him to do or not do something. Worse than usual. he just talks like he rules the universe, and he forgets who him mom is. I can always have more attitude, be crazy mad, yell, and carry on more than he ever could. And it is MY goal to rule the universe, so step aside kid : )

So by the time we left the house to go shopping with Grandma Shirley, he had already had a time out and a spanking, which are few and far between. He acted like a fool in the store, when I normally have no problem taking him out in public, he usually reserves the baddestness ( I just made that up) for home. After paying and getting ready to leave, we tell him we are going to Applebees for lunch, one of his favorite restaurants. he starts an all out screaming fit "I don't wanna go, I hate Applebees" til I finally told him I would take him home and drop him off with the dogs, and me and grandma would have apleasant lunch. he agreed to go then, of course, and wwas good there, and ate well.

He was tired, and I knew it, had not been getting enough sleep lately, that is usually the main cause for his crazy antics, but darn it I was tired too, form him not sleeping like he or I should.

he said on the way out of the restaurant how much he LOVED Applebees. Then we called gramma gramma, casue there was no way I was taking Lucas to Walmart too, it would push my insanity over the brink, so she was awesome enough to watch him for an hour, it was a lovely time.

Once I got him home in the evening, it was back to awfulness. Screaming, demanding, and got mad that the computer game and decided to SLAM the mouse. Well, then I was over the top done with him. He was screaming in time out he was not talking to me, and I said Good, and then he kept saying mommy, mommy, and i would say What? And then he was not talking to me, I seriously could have harmed my child, so I stayed in the kitchen.

Larry got home as he was screaming and could hear him all the way outside form his truck. I told him Lucas was his the rest of thie night, I wanted him in bed early, I was finishing making dinner, cleaning it up and taking a shower so I did not have to call 696KIDS on myself.

Lucas eventually calmed down, and daddy got him to sleep in his own bed by 8pm..

This morning I had a totally new kid. he came down all on his own when he woke up, was pleasant, asked nicely to play the Arthur game on the computer, I warned him he had school and I wanted no arguing at all when I said to get ready. he played 15 min, asked for breakfast nicely, ate it, got dressed, brushed his teeth with no fighting. Asked to play with the Toy Story toys a bit, I told him he had 10 min only. He put the toys down when I said to go, and he got ready to get in the car, and was lovely when I dropped him at school/

I wish he understood it could always be that easy and pleasant. Little hard headed goober, but he is so cute

Melt down

Lucas woke up at 5:30 with me this morning, in a good mood.

That lasted right up til it was time to go, and he was giving the dogs their "cookies" and he realized I was out of the ones HE likes, and I refused to give him another kind, cause I KNEW he would spit it out.

It is bad enough that he has a dog treat that he likes and even worse I let him have a little piece of it every time we leave to make him happy.

He was digging thru their cupboard, looking for the one kind he likes, crying that he wanted one. I had offerred him breakfast, and of course he had not wanted any. I finally told him Tina had food, we had food, he is NOT a dog and does not need a dog treat of any kind.

Put on his coat and hat, and waltzed him out the door.

Oh the things I fight with a three yr old about

Big Boy

I cannot even believe how big Lucas is getting.

He is getting ready to start Tball practices with his friend Carter next week. Then, if all goes well, he will go into the Tball league where he will have actual games. On a team, with friends, and a coach.

He is starting to really have a life outside of just mom and dad. Really exciting and scary as a parent for sure. We want to see him grow and learn, but the other part of me wants him to stay 3 forever and love nothing else than mommy the best.

He usually needs Ms Heather to hold him at school when I drop him off, so he can wave out the window to me. Today he wanted to wave all by himself, he was a big boy and did not need Ms heather to hold him. he waved and I watched him walk to his breakfast at the table, and start talking to Ms. Heather, probably telling her all about he is going to play tball with carter, etc etc, cause he is really excited.

It comes and goes

Lucas's good behavior that is.

I swear, nothing he actually DOES will be the death of me, it is the MOUTH. JUST LIKE HIS MOTHER< he cannot help himself with the smart ass comments. OMG.

If he gets in trouble, he mocks me. I will say, Lucas, that is enough, I mean it. He will say I MEAN IT MOM< THAT IS ENOUGH. I have been this close to smacking the boy in the mouth lately.

Evey conversation goes like this though, no matter what it is about. He goes in timeout more for what he says than what he does. he is so quick to be sorry for DOING something wrong, but has no remorse for the mouth.

I had to threaten to take away his Star Wars toys today just for arguing with me about getting dressed. yesterday I had to pretend to call the police so he would not argue about getting in the carseat, next time, he is getting smacked, not sure what else to do.

Other things are so funny that he says I have to leave the room and laugh. How come noone told me how frustrating and hilarious it was at the same time to raise a child, a version of myself nonetheless, OMG OMG OMG
: )

Good...times????

Not so much, as usual anymore : (

Lucas had a blast at his Vday party friday, came home with all sorts of sweets and cards, he loved it. Who doesn't love a party?

Then the next bomb hit, for me. Friday night I spent wide awake, okay, half passed out, camped out in my bathroom, sick as a dog. Anyone who knows me knows I hate nothing more in the universe than vomit, or vomiting. I am hoping it was some kind of food poisoning and not a tummy bug, so Lucas and Larry do not get it, knock on wood so far.

I am probably the craziest sick person ever. There I was, 3am, in between bouts of sickness, with the clorox bathroom cleaner in one hand, spraying down the bathroom. My immaculate bathroom compulsions are a sickness of their own, I admit.

saturday evening when I finally got the energy to get off the couch to shower, I then scrubbed the bathroom as well, washed all the towels, emptied the wastebasket, and tossed my toothbruch and walked around the house with clorox wipes as well.

Sunday morning, while I was still dizzy and lightheaded, I washed everything I had touched in the last two days.

I spent three days in all mostly on the couch in jammies, forced myself to feel better for work today, it is going okay. Less light headed as the day goes on, and eating and drinking more.

yes, the craziest sick person ever.

Party at school

Lucas is very excited to go to his Valentine's Day party on Friday at school. We made out his Madagascar aka Mr. Gas Card valentines last week and made little goody bags, it was fun : )

He will come home very hyped up on sugar, but tha's what being a kid is all about. I have fond memories of holiday parties at school as a little one, so I get very excited for him, cannot wait to get creative and make stuff for his classmates, such a soccer/PTA mom. I love that stuff.

He is feeling good this week without help from any meds, so I am breathing easier this week finally. His good friend Carter is back at school too, that should please him as well.

Tomorrow Lucas has his first teeth cleaning at the dentist. He is very brave about stuff like this and I know he is nervous, I just hope they don't find any cavities or issues. He has been very good about brushing his teeth two times a day often unprompted. He is getting so big : )

Never a dull moment

We know how to live it up, I tell ya. We had a scary trip to the ER Sat in the middle of the night. ( want to add, would love to stay out of the ER just for a few weeks, just sayin....)

After the bday party at Mcdonalds, Lucas fell asleep on the way home late at 5:30, slept for 2 hours. When he woke up, he seemed like he was in pain, was taking deep breaths, it made me nervous. he kept telling me "he was just breathing". Then he snapped out of it and was completely fine, so I ignored it.

At midnight, after going to bed at 10:30, he woke up just screaming that his back hurt, his back hurt. he had never acted like that and I was really upset. We spent 20 min trying to calm him down and see what it could be. After we determined he must really be in pain, i decided it could be anything, who knew, we needed to get to the nearest ER.

We went to Parma Hospital and it was a joke as usual. Jam packed and at least a 2 hr wait ahead of us. Lucas calmed down and was falling asleep on larry's shoulder, so I said we should drive further to a pediatric ER since he was calmer. When we got into the car, he said he was feeling better and wanted to go home. So we did, and sat with him for an hour or so to see how he did.

At 2am we decided to try to go back to bed, and the pain started again, poor kid was panting he was in so much pain, that is all I can think to describe it, he was crying and moaning and yelling at me to get him to the dr to get better, still kept saying it was his back. he was so miserable on the way to the peds ER that he could not even be in his carseat, it was the longest 20 min drive of my life.

At the ER, he was in so much pain when the docs felt his belly, they took him right to Xray and di a urinalysys. Come to find he was impacted with poop and terrible gas bubbles. they gave him meds for the cramping and we did an enema on him. he felt much better immediately. I am so thankful that is 'all' it was, but it was scary to see him like that.

he has been on so many meds the last few weeks being sick I am sure that is what helped do that, along with his tendency to hold the poo back anyways, but he was nowhere near as constipated a she was a few mos ago when he did not go for two weeks, and then he never complained of pain, so this was definitely new.

we got home at 4am and have to keep up with the Miaralax the next few days and go from there. but good GO I swear he is trying to give his parents a stroke, no more doctors!!!!!

Much better

I am trying to be optimistic, I really am, Lucas is feeling well, I am feeling much better, I want to just enjoy that. But today it will be 50, tomorrow 30 and back into the high 40's later next week. I want to be happy about the warmth, for us it is warmth, but I expect our next round of sickness.

Why? Cause fluctuating winter/spring temps always help us get sick and well, becasue we will be done with our antibiotics in the next couple days and that is how it has gone for the last long, long year : (

Oh well, at least we can go to little Danielle's bday party today and see all my friends, and Lucas's friends that we did not see last week. And tomorrow Lucas will sleep at Pappy and Grandma Jane's giving me a much needed break.

On the doctor appt front, we saw the ped and the opthamologist yesterday.

Lucas's eyes see 20/20 with the glasses now, so no patching is necessary, and if all goes well, and he keeps wearing his glasses for now, it will all correct itself.

Following up on the latest round of sickness with Dr Wilson, who I trust explicitly with Lucas's medical care, we tossed asthma around for a year, but he is so not the classic asthma, we dismissed it a lot.

But, we both feel comfortable saying that what Lucas has for sure has a virus triggered asthma that results in coughing fits. The thickening of the bronchial lining helps tell us so, and the fact the albuterol worked so well does too. Luckily it is not the wheezing, cannot breathe and all the time kind. Thank God.

So we are to use the albuterol 'as needed' determined by my mommy senses, which are like Spidey senses, except they are between me and Lucas : )

if he starts to get sick, or I hear him coughing a bit, use it, keep loose track of how much, and if it gets to the point I seem to be using it a lot, we may need to use something more permanent. but hopefully it is just 'seasonal' for lack of a better word and that he outgrows it.

Star Wars all the time

Lucas is now successfully obsessed. It is all Star Wars, all the time. It started off with just the cartoon ones, the Clone Wars, where he became familiar with Anakin Skywalker, Obi Kenobi : ) the droids etc. So he started wanting posters of them and figures, then he started watching the newer episodes which is really episodes 1,2, and 3. But it was not all action for him like the cartoon ones, so they were a bit slow for him. Then he got two blasters to go along with the 3 light sabers he has between Larry and him.

Now he is just all into it. He is watching the originals, with Luke, Han and Leia, and Chewy, and Jabba, he loves the action scenes and last week it was Empire Strikes Back that we watched over and over, this week it is Return of the Jedi. He thinks he is Luke Skywalker I think and loves Darth Vader.

It certainly has made going poop in the potty more successful since we are currently bribing him with the action figures LOL. But it is ALL we watch anymore, as much of a fan I am, and Larry too, we could scream sometimes ha ha.

But Larry is very excited that Lucas loves his two favorite things, Star Wars and baseball, so they have super bonded over the movies and toys. Every night they play Star Wars together, while watching the movie, with the action figures, and when the action/fight scenes come on, they have to get out their light sabers and blasters and fight too. And if I get too close while they are playing Lucas tells me "Mom, can me and dad just play? Can you leave us alone?" To which I reply "Certainly" as I smile, and run in the other direction : )

Knock on wood

We may be improving health wise. it has been a long couple of weeks. I am on my way to the ENt today becasue up til today, I still did not feel any better even though I started antibiotics last thursday. My ear is completely blocked up still, so I do not want to take any chances with that with all my issues. But dare to say I feel a bit more human today for the first time in over a week. I was still running a fever as of Sunday and Monday nights.

Lucas ran a fever Sat night, because of course the doc Sat morning stressed that if he ran a fever he would need to be seen again asap. So Sunday morning it was out to an appt in Avon. His pulse/ox and lungs were good, but that dr said with all the thick goop, sinus infection, in his nose, he was not going to get better with just the breathing treatments alone, so we are trying the 10 days of amoxcycillin since he already did the Zpak last week.

I say that his coughing spells have gotten a lot better with the albuterol, but it sure makes him cranky. His friend's mom said her son is really cranky on it too. I guess it makes them feel jittery and weird. Poor kids : ( But he has been sleeping better at night, and is improving, but I say that cautiously of course, casue it could change at any moment with him. I did send him to school today, i hope he does not get reinfected.

On friday he has a follow up with dr Wilson to check his progress and also one at the opthamologist to check his eye progress, so another busy week of dr visits.
